Grestling und Herrgott
It’s a Sunday during summer vacation. I am sitting in my grandmother’s kitchen when she tells me about her godfather’s death, while I help with the harvest. The Sunday mass is broadcasted on the radio. The same day she went to her godfather’s funeral.
'Grestling' is styrian-austrian for lingonberry and 'Herrgott' means god. It is common to collect several buckets full of lingonberries to later sort them out, keeping the good ones.
